ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Squads, All Teams Players List

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 squads showcase a mix of experience and young talent as teams gear up for the high-stakes tournament. Each nation has carefully selected its players, balancing proven performers with fresh faces to create formidable lineups. Captains like Pat Cummins for Australia and Temba Bavuma for South Africa bring leadership to squads packed with world-class talent.

The ICC has required the eight participating nations to announce their preliminary 15-man squads at least five weeks before the tournament’s start on February 19. However, teams are allowed to make adjustments to their squads up to one week before the opening match. Any changes beyond that point will need approval from the ICC Event Technical Committee.

Group A

Bangladesh

Allrounder Shakib Al Hasan and wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das are absent from Bangladesh’s Champions Trophy squad. Shakib remains suspended from bowling due to a suspect action, while Litton was dropped following a string of poor ODI performances.

New Zealand

Fast bowlers Lockie Ferguson and Ben Sears return to New Zealand’s 15-man Champions Trophy squad. Ferguson, now uncontracted, missed recent matches while playing in the BBL, and Sears makes a comeback after a knee injury sidelined him.

Sears, Will O’Rourke, and Nathan Smith are set for their first ICC tournament, joining a pace attack led by Ferguson and Matt Henry. The squad’s experience is reinforced by captain Mitchell Santner, Tom Latham, and Kane Williamson, a veteran of the 2013 and 2017 editions.

Group B

Afghanistan

Afghanistan has recalled opener Ibrahim Zadran to their Champions Trophy squad following his recovery from ankle surgery. However, spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman remains sidelined after a hand injury, with AM Ghaznafar stepping in as his replacement.

Hashmatullah Shahidi will lead the team, joined by former Pakistan captain Younis Khan as mentor for their tournament debut among the world’s top eight ODI teams.

Australia

Australia has announced a “balanced and experienced squad” for the Champions Trophy, with Matt Short and Aaron Hardie earning their first ICC event call-ups. Captain Pat Cummins is included despite managing an ankle issue, with selectors confident in his fitness.

Nathan Ellis also joins the squad after a strong BBL season. Key changes from the ODI World Cup-winning team include the absence of David Warner (retired), Cameron Green (injury), and Sean Abbott. All-round options include Marsh, Maxwell, Stoinis, Short, and Hardie, while Alex Carey earns a spot as a backup wicketkeeper and batter.

England

England announced their Champions Trophy squad in December, with the same group set to play three ODIs in India beforehand. This marks Brendon McCullum’s first assignment as white-ball coach.

Joe Root returns to the ODI setup after the 2023 World Cup, while Ben Stokes, sidelined by a hamstring injury requiring January surgery, was unavailable for selection.

South Africa

South Africa has named an experienced squad for the Champions Trophy, with 10 players from the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. Temba Bavuma will captain, and seamer Lungi Ngidi returns after recovering from a groin injury.

Coach Rob Walter emphasized the blend of experienced players and fresh talent, aiming to advance further in global tournaments.

Note: Anrich Nortje was initially included in South Africa’s squad but has been ruled out due to a back injury. He was also ruled out from the 2019 WC due to thumb injury and the 2023 WC due to hip injury.
